A date, more meanings. Huh?

It's 1st of December. What about it? The most important thing I should start off with is that today is the World AIDS Day. For those who don't know, AIDS means acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).


What does AIDS do? This disease progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections andtumors. HIV is transmitted through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the bloodstream with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as blood,semen, vaginal fluid, preseminal fluid, and breast milk.

But you probably already know that. Today we remember, that there are people who are HIV positive and are suffering of AIDS (because they are not the same: HIV is the virus that causes AIDS - the disease) and that HIV infection may be prevented and even though AIDS has no cure at the moment, there are ways to help you keep living after you were infected.





The most incredible thing about HIV and AIDS is that people are discriminating those who are HIV positive and are suffering of AIDS. I find this incredible. There are still hospitals who refuse to treat these people, or try to help them. There are people who are refusing to accept that they are humans as well. And they don't realize how hard it is for these people to live in a world where they aren't accepted. Lame...


But 1st of December also means the National Day of Romania. In 1918 Transylvania unites with Romania, following the incorporation of Bessarabia (March 27) and Bukovina (November 28) next year just after the WW1 concludes.

There are even more important things about this date, but I think World AIDS day is the most significant as well as Romania's National Day, which happens to be the country I was born and I live in ;). Shh, don't tell anyone.

Ce e AGK?

Am pornit AGK pe cînd aveam 15-16 ani. A trecut ceva timp de atunci și mă tot frămînt pentru că nu mă mai consider un Kiddo. Îmi plăcea enorm să scriu pe atunci. Acum mi se pare că orice aș spune au spus și alții deja, că nu transmit nimic nou. Știu că există alți adolescenți LBGT out there care habar nu au unde să înceapă să citească, să se informeze, care nu știu cu ce se mănîncă toată chestia asta, care nu au curajul încă să admită lor înșiși că sunt gay, darămite să se pregătească de coming out. Iar Another Gay Kiddo ar trebui, poate, să fie locul în care să înceapă să facă fix acest lucru. Viziunea mea de 2 ani încoace e ca AGK să fie un loc în care adolescenții să găsească răspunsuri și opinii.
